Autoimmune conditions like RA cause the body to attack itself. LDN blocks cytokine cascades which cause inflammation as well as help modulate T and B lymphocyte production. The result of this is a reduction of pain and inflammation and may reduce tissue damage that often results.
In a review of RA treatments, those taking LDN reported that LDN was the most effective of all the treatments.
Other studies have shown that taking LDN can greatly reduce the need to take damaging NDSAID and DMARD drugs.
